I think the universe is speaking to me.  And it seems to be telling me that I need to take a break.  A recent article in the Washington Post by Karla L. Miller argued, “The four-day workweek gaining ground in Europe.  It’s time Americans give it a serious look.”  How in the world am I supposed to get everything done in four days when I can barely keep up for 6 or 7 days?

A few days earlier in a conversation with a young man that I’m mentoring, I mentioned that he might want to give himself permission to take a short break from some of his bigger goals as he really sounded exhausted. Of course, he responded by reminding me that he has a lot to do and can’t afford time off. Then, while working out with my trainer over the weekend, we talked about the importance of each of us allowing time for our individual muscle strains to rest and heal. In his words, “You know something Mike, we ain’t as young as we used to be.” All the above took place over the span of four days.  And the final message came in the form of a notification from Ideas.TED.com. The title, “The 7 Types of Rest That Every Person Needs.”

Yes, even I can take a hint.  So rather than rewrite my version of some well-written articles, I think it best to just share the one with the broadest and most practical application.  Ladies and gentlemen, I now give you “The 7 Types of Rest That Every Person Needs.”  I think I’m going to go outside now and take a little recess.  Might even see if one of the grandkids can come out and play.
